So don't get too excited by this news. First, the XBox will only recognize a very small number of drives, which are the ones specifically designed for compact spaces (used in Surface devices and the Steam Deck). Second, those drives are PCIe 3.0, so they are literally half as fast as the proprietary Seagate ones. Third, by the time you buy the adapter and the drive, you are only saving a few bucks vs just getting the real drive. Maybe someday MS will allow more drives to be used, but for now, this is nothing but an interesting side note. I still maintain that MS' choice to use this method of expansion is better than the PS5 method. They cost a bit more, but at least you aren't wasting the capacity of your old drive when you want to add more. That was an OK method when using regular HDDs, but this stuff is too expensive to just yank out and throw away unless you have a PC you can stick it in.

If it is like XBox one(s) HDD drive reconised, it make me laugh... after a month of "we will ban all HDD that are not from us", they have allowed everything (i mean accepted with everything M$). *edit* i forgot to say that external XBox one HDD work with XBox one series S/X and is far than enough for XBox, XBox one(s), XBox one X 's games, and let internal for App and native game.

pretty standard look for aliexpress and such, you can have adpaters and weird converters but it's not intended for your everyday customer
